TEMPTU PRO makes a splash at IMATS Sydney

TEMPTU PRO had the privilege of being one of the featured brands at HUB Makeup booth at this years Sydney IMATS, or Makeup Artist Tradeshow. Though the show is only in its second year, the turnout was amazing, with artists from all over the world in attendance. The HUB Makeup booth was busy all weekend with live demonstrations and industry discounts on products. Check out some shots of the all the action!

Thin and over plucked brows are out totally out! Say hello to thick, Brooke Shields-esque brows, that were seen all over the runways for Fall & Spring!

Brows are extremely important when creating a makeup look. Bold brows define the character of the face.

Tip: An attempt for bold brows can easily go wrong – First you want to make sure your eyebrows are groomed – Thick brows = yes, Uni-brow = NO!

The most important thing to remember is to always use an eyebrow color that is one shade lighter than your natural color. This will create a natural, more modern look that does not look out-dated.

TEMPTU FOR WAYNE SPRING 2011

“The Wayne Spring Summer 2011 girl is like Pris, the Replicant, in Bladerunner; she’s smart, strong and dangerous, yet also a delicate and vulnerable flower” explains Wayne Lee.

Just as the character Pris airbrushed herself in the film, the TEMPTU team along with Key makeup artist Danielle Fonseca, airbrushed the models to create a “fresh natural look with presence.” Wayne also chooses to incorporate TEMPTU’s custom temporary tattoos as body art for some of the pieces of the collection. The tattoos added edge and at the same time a delicate floral essence to each piece, another reference to Bladerunner.

A Shoot to The Moon

For Spring, the RISTO Collection labeled “A Shoot to the Moon”, designer Risto Bimbiloski takes his girl out of her urban comfort zone and flies her to the moon. Inspired by the recent acquisition of a super-powerful telescope, Bimbiloski muses on our satellite’s strange and timeless beauty, its scientific history and its mysterious dark side.

Max Delorme, key makeup artist for TEMPTU created a look he calls “romantic futuristic”. “I wanted to create a juxtaposition in color and placement, with the woman appearing naked and ethereal.” says Max.

The look:

• TEMPTU RETOUCH in Blushing Coral on temples and eyelids – contouring the face with a strong blush drawing the focus to the center of the face

New York Fashion week hit the runaways this past week with Spring 2011 collections. Check out what the TEMPTU PRO team did for Lorick using the TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System.

For Spring, the LORICK Collection was inspired by the late painter Agnes Martin with cool, light, minimal forms prevailing. As the designer Abigail Lorick explains, “The Lorick Lady should feel a strong and calming force from this collection.” Deanna Melluso, key makeup artist for TEMPTU PRO created a look that was clean, minimal with subtle and simple color, a “sunkissed city girl” for the Spring.

Never Say Goodbye to Summer

Summer is coming to an end so quickly! What to do about keeping that sunkissed look year round without the sun filled days?

Here is a great way to add a bronzed glow to any client! 

1. Airbrush correct S/B Foundation shade to the face
2. Mix S/B Foundation #009 and a tiny drop of S/B Adjuster in Violet
3. Lightly spray onto your client’s skin, focusing on the outer edges of the cheeks, forehead and a little across the nose, where sunlight naturally highlights the face

*This color is especially great for warming up the edges on your males clients, creating a little depth without the look of makeup or too much powder.

Angela Kinsey on the Red Carpet

The Emmy Awards were this past Sunday, and Angela Kinsey looked gorgeous!

I swear every year gets better and better!

The man that’s in the picture with me below, is Theodore Leaf. Theodore does Angela’s hair and we really make a great team. Teamwork is key to me in the business, and on days like the Emmy’s, I actually prefer to work with the hair stylist at the same time so the look comes to life all at once!

Tip of the week: Concealer: Blend, Blend, Blend!

I am a total blender! Blending is the key to perfect color match! You never want it to be obvious that someone has concealer on.

Here are my steps to flawless skin:

• First I fill my airbrush with TEMPTU PRO S/B Foundation #004 and #006.
• Then I spray some of the foundation onto my palette, to mix it with my concealer – this gets me the closest color match possible
• Next, I apply the concealer where it’s needed and I blend it out to make sure there are no brush strokes (everything shows up on HD!)
• Once I’m done concealing, I airbrush the foundation
• To complete the look, I dusted TEMPTU PRO Invisible Difference Powder ONE and perfecto!

TEMPTU PRO on The New Buckcherry Album Cover

 

LA based MUA, Amber Griffin recently did the makeup for Buckcherry’s new album cover using TEMPTU PRO products!

Amber used our S/B foundation and colors, with a combination of airbrushing and hand painting, to create the flower child inspired look for the cover.

Buckcherry is an awesome Grammy-nominated hard rock band, and their new album, All Night Long, was released this August and is their best one yet!

Amber is also an incredible MUA that has worked on some of coolest rock star, such as Katy Perry, Carmen Electra, Motley Crew, Smashing Pumpkins, and even Paris Hilton! The list goes on!

Emmy Time!

 

It’s Emmy weekend, and I’m always excited about doing Angela Kinsey from NBC’s The Office. This will be my 4th year with her. As always, I will be airbrushing her to perfection using TEMPTU PRO S/B.

TIP OF THE WEEK:

When creating red carpet beauties, always color match the face to the shoulder for the popular pose of peeking over the shoulder!

For me, this includes a beautiful highlight on the shoulder, arm and décolleté. I love TEMPTU PRO S/B in Champagne Shimmer and sometimes I mix White Shimmer and Gold Shimmer depending on the color palette I have in mind.

TEMPTU PRO History: De Niro’s Tattoos in Cape Fear

Though it was released almost 19 years ago, Cape Fear (not the original of course, the equally powerful remake), was by far one of our favorite projects to have worked on.  I mean, who wouldn’t want a chance to work with Robert De Niro?  To prepare for the role of Max Cady in Cape Fear, De Niro did a lot of research: listening to video-taped interviews of serial killers and looking at stills of men in prison.  He discovered that tattoos are a way of expressing oneself in prison and so he felt that he should be covered with tattoos and that’s just what he did.

Lips in a Pinch

With New York Fashion Week fast approaching, I was reviewing some of the looks we did last season and comparing the products used at these shows. At two of our shows last season, Alex Casertano and Caroline Seikaly the look called for stained lips. The designers wanted the models to look as though they had been sipping red wine before stepping out on the runway. How did we achieve this look? Not with a traditional lip stain!  For both shows we used our Violet Adjuster (S/B #35) by dabbing a few drops on the lips and then adding a thin layer of Rosebud salve on top for a bit of shine. Artists have also used our new blush shade, Raspberry (#47) and our highlighter Champagne Shimmer (#53) as beautiful lip shades as well. The colors will stay on just like a regular lip stain, and you can mix to make your perfect shade!

Along with most of the members of the TEMPTU office, I have been trying to eat and act more healthy lately.  Normally this would be hard enough, but now there is an enormous candy bowl ever overflowing with all my favorite goodies living on a certain coworker’s desk.  How does one resist this ever present office temptation?  Snuggle with it!

Working on So You Think You Can Dance, Season 7, was both an honor and a pleasure!!!

Under the department head Amy Strozzi, I was able to put my talents to use on some pretty amazing faces!

TEMPTU PRO S/B is the only foundation I have in my kit. I generally airbrush on all my gigs, but sometimes I play around with other techniques. 

Have you ever just brushed on the S/B foundation??? Well that’s what I did here, for Lauren G of the All Star Team. I applied her makeup 6 hours prior to when this photo was taken…

If you ever find yourself in a pinch without a compressor or perhaps working a gig where they prefer you to use traditional makeup application techniques (or if the director specifically asks you to use something really sheer….brushing on the S/B formula will give you a BEAUTIFUL result! You can lightly apply for sheer or add layers for a full, yet skin like coverage.

I started with prepping her skin….toner, eye cream, moisturizer…and PRIMER (don’t forget your TEMPTU PRO S/B Primer)!! Then I went to town with S/B foundation #6 on a palette and a brush in my hand.
