Q&A with Wendi Avignone Key Makeup Artist for Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior

Last night CBS’s debuted their newest show Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.  TEMPTU was lucky enough to be featured on the faces of the show’s three female leads: Janeane Garofalo, Beau Garrett, and Kirsten Vangsness.  The show’s Key Makeup Artist, Wendi Avignone, is no stranger to TEMPTU PRO products, having used them previously on the set of Heroes.  We sat down with her to get her insights on Airbrush makeup, and how it’s making the lives of on set makeup artists that much easier.

ISSE Long Beach: we came, we saw, we airbrushed!

The avant-garde circus experience has been a hot trend in modern entertainment for years.  Shows like Cirque Du Soleil set the groundwork for this quickly expanding form of entertainment as early as 1987 with its show Le Cirque Reinvente.  I am sure we can all agree that costume, and of  course makeup play as important a role in the avant-garde circus show, as the physical feats that are performed.  In 2009 TEMPTU PRO teamed up with Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque first for the 51st Grammy’s and later in April for their Coachella performance.  Always working to be on the cutting edge of makeup, TEMPTU PRO has teamed up with Bella Circo for their Oceania show. TEMPTU PRO’s Top 10 Makeup Musts for Mature Skin

Bold Brows are Back!

Time to channel your inner 80′s Material Girl!

Bold brows are back for the season!

Thin and over plucked brows are out totally out! Say hello to thick, Brooke Shields-esque brows, that were seen all over the runways for Fall & Spring!

Brows are extremely important when creating a makeup look. Bold brows define the character of the face.

Tip: An attempt for bold brows can easily go wrong – First you want to make sure your eyebrows are groomed – Thick brows = yes, Uni-brow = NO!

The most important thing to remember is to always use an eyebrow color that is one shade lighter than your natural color. This will create a natural, more modern look that does not look out-dated.

Look to Max Azria for Spring Looks

 

Max Azria’s Spring 2011 Runway show highlighted a super casual, soft, and fresh makeup look, sure to be a hit for the Spring.  Designed by makeup artist Lisa Butler and carried out by the TEMPTU PRO team, see below for the details!

The desired look for the show was to produce angelic-looking, youthful girls. The makeup was soft to compliment the collection which was made up of soft and muted peaches and creams.

“On the skin, we’re using a silicone and water hybrid, brush-on foundation called TEMPTU RETOUCH FOUNDATION to cancel out any redness and give a fresh, dewy look,” explained Lisa Butler.

To achieve a heavenly glow, makeup artists brushed the TEMPTU RETOUCH HIGHLIGHTER in Pink Pearl a little bit higher than the model’s natural cheekbones. They also used the same color on the model’s arms, legs, and décolletage to add a nice sheen.

To finish off the look, they added a peach blush just below the apples of the cheeks and left the lips and eyes bare.

Nothing to it! A beautiful soft and simple look that is totally wearable and easy to recreate!

Never Say Goodbye to Summer

Summer is coming to an end so quickly! What to do about keeping that sunkissed look year round without the sun filled days?

Here is a great way to add a bronzed glow to any client! 

1. Airbrush correct S/B Foundation shade to the face
2. Mix S/B Foundation #009 and a tiny drop of S/B Adjuster in Violet
3. Lightly spray onto your client’s skin, focusing on the outer edges of the cheeks, forehead and a little across the nose, where sunlight naturally highlights the face

*This color is especially great for warming up the edges on your males clients, creating a little depth without the look of makeup or too much powder.
