Each New Year’s at Temptu, we partner with an artist to create a special, limited edition New Year’s tattoo to celebrate one year closing and another beginning. In years past we have worked with Assume Vivid Astro Focus – an installation-based artist collective and Pearl Hsiung - a painter. This year we collaborated with LA-based fashion designer, and branding guru JC Obando for our 2010 tattoo.
Internationally recognized for his couture pieces that have Saudi princesses and Hollywood Starlets and Socialites swooning, JC Obando has also created a name for himself as an award-winning Art Director working with clients that include BMW, Procter and Gamble, and Budweiser among others. Most recently he was nominated for the CFDA / Vogue Fashion fund award.
For the Temptu 2010 New Year’s tattoo – JC curated a meditation on the tattoo, creating a temporary form that is both a riddle and a message – with a legend of Antarctic exploration included.
