If you’re like me, you’re probably grossed out by the testers in cosmetics stores and counters. How many people have stuck their fingers in this eyeshadow, how long has this mascara been sitting here, how many strangers’ lips has this lipstick touched? I don’t want to know. And, like me, sometimes you might cave in and can’t help but try on that gorgeous blush, and then you leave full of regret, feeling dirty. Well, I’ve found something that might eventually be an answer to your makeup-testing prayers.
In Tokyo, some cosmetics stores have been using “augmented reality mirrors” for customers to test products. Here’s how it goes: a computer scans your face. The image comes up on a computer screen, where you can then “try on” products. The program will even give you recommendations of products, and you can print out a before and after picture along with a list of the products you want to buy!
Not many stores are using these augmented reality mirrors yet, but maybe this cool new shopping experience will become a trend in the beauty business!
