Mark Evans’ work blows me away period.  In my art school past I have played around with etching as a printmaking form but never in my wildest dreams have I seen anything like the leather works that Mark Evans carves into existence.  Evans put a lot of humor into his description of his creative process describing himself as a resurrected caveman unable to escape his deep primal urges.  “Art doesn’t get much more primal than etching animal skins with a big knife.”  If this is what comes from tapping into our primal urges I think we all have some serious tapping to do.
