Incarnation by Mark Ryden

Time lapse painting videos are my new addiction.  I find it truly amazing when an artist can go from conception to finished product in one 5 minute video.  “Incarnation” is one of my favorite works by Mark Ryden, who is currently showing his work at the Paul Kasmin gallery in New York City.  There is something so innocent and yet off-putting about the porcelain white, cherib-like woman in her Renaissance Esque pastoral landscape.  Her dress composed entirely of different meat cuts is almost disgusting yet it aids in bringing out the delicate beauty through out the rest of the painting.  Check out this video of “Incarnation” creation from start to finish.  What a great way to document a genius like Mark Ryden at work!
